Blog vs. Wikis

The major difference between a wiki and a blog is that a blog is mainly use in an individual manner. When a blog is created the user has the ability to post whatever he or she wants and no one can modify the post. Once the post is submitted other users can make comments on it. On the other hand, a wiki is a created in a collaborative way. The wiki acts like a community in which any of its users can add, edit, and navigate within the wiki.

Nowadays the ability to stay connected and have the facility to interact with many people all around the world has brought us many benefits.  Networking has become an important power to hold. It is extremely important to maintain and increase your network in order to get job opportunities or any kind of need on a daily basis.

Blogs can be used for collaboration, as shown on the article “Brooklyn Blog Helps Lead to Drug Raid” by Michael Wilson. According to the article most of the neighborhoods in Brooklyn use blogs for collaboration. Bloggers around the area started to write about suspicious activities that lead to investigations in which the police took action and finally terminated drug dealing in the area.
Blogs can also be used by companies to get feedback. As illustrated on the article “Wal-Mart Tastemakers Write Unfiltered Blog” by Michael Barbaro. The benefits of using blogs in Wallmart: “The result is an intensely personal window into the lives, preferences and quirks of the powerful tastemakers at Wal-Mart, the nation’s largest retailer, who have spent years shielded from public view.”
